THE STORY
When I dreamed up this bag design, I wanted something rough. The leather itself wasn’t giving me “rough”. It needed something. Since I’m a fan of mesh & have so many types, I started playing around with its texture. Inspired by ruined lace, I tore & stretched the mesh over the leather panels, securing it with a special darning stitch. The technique evoked a tormented beauty. Along with my fabric hoard, I also own a healthy collection of vintage buttons. I dipped into my collection and found a button for the closure with a texture and style that compliments the all over vibe of this Statement Handbag.
